According to the medical treatment experts, bladder exstrophy is a birth defect, and in this type of rare incidences, the bladder develops outside the foetus. The exposed bladder cannot store urine, or function normally. And that results in incontinence, meaning urine leakage. The severity of the health problems caused by the said birth defect varies, and these can include defects in the bladder, genitals and pelvic bones, as well as defects in the intestines and reproductive organs.
Exstrophy- Epispadias Complex represents a range of genitourinary malformations. Depending on severity, the complex may involve the urinary system, musculoskeletal system, pelvis, pelvic floor, abdominal wall, genitalia, and sometimes the spine and anus also.
According to medical experts, the ratio of this birth defect is 1: 10,000 per 50,000 live births, and the male female ratio of incidence is 3:1.The Chirayu team referred the child to the advanced medical treatment institute of the state DKS Hospital, located in the state capital Raipur, where process was done for admission under the care of Dr Nitin Sharma. After a series of necessary tests, the first- stage surgery has been done successfully. In case of need, the next surgical procedure will be undertaken.
